There was an issue with version 183.3 of the game when it came out. Something to do with false positive results when testing to see if certain items placed were considered 'under the ground'.

    • You can no longer build underneath terrain except in caves, and all structures beneath terrain except in caves is automatically destroyed (Pillars are exempt from this rule).

A side effect of this was that all built Behemoth Gates in game got wiped out. This didn't affect the Behemoth Gateways (the expensive partner in this pair), so the positioning and all that is preserved, and as of version 183.31 (or the 3rd version of this particular hotfix), you can now rebuild and put gates back up.

So if you had a Behemoth Gate and it's gone, no you weren't attacked/griefed/etc, this happened to every gate on every server that booted up with v183.3.
